Breaking away from the dense, text-heavy designs typical of traditional academic libraries, the HKUST Library features a sleek, minimalist user interface. The UI is anchored by a clean, centralized search hero and utilizes ample whitespace, modern typography, and card-based layouts to create a visually breathable and highly scannable digital experience.

A prominent, unified search bar on the homepage consolidates all academic databases into a single query, minimizing clicks and reducing user friction.

Audience-Tailored Pathways:

Role-based navigation (e.g., Students vs. Faculty) prevents information overload by instantly delivering curated, relevant resources for specific user needs.

Visual Space Management

Interactive digital floor plans featuring filters and temperature heatmaps help users efficiently locate and book physical study spaces.

Task-Based Navigation:

Action-oriented menus (e.g., "Find & Borrow") replace confusing library jargon with plain language, drastically reducing the user's cognitive load.

From Fragmentation to Clarity: IA Workshop

To resolve a fragmented site structure plagued by duplicated content, we facilitated an Information Architecture (IA) restructuring workshop.
